First Time Selling Art in a Gallery

I am so happy to have my art displayed in an art gallery. Especially when the sale is for the charity purposes. Unfortunately, my phone battery ran out on that day and I didn't able to catch much photo on those pieces which are really good. Luckily my friend had took a photo of me with my painting.

Here are the list of paintings which already sold:
  • Following paintings are sold:
  • Prosperity - Asvoria Kuan
  • The Bushfire - Monica Aggarwal
  • Peekaboo! - Jean May Sian Ho
  • Kanching Baju Besar - Silvana Liaw
  • Immaculada Concepcion - Evelyn Foo
  • 'SUNRISE' at Church of the NBVM - Rekha Allencherry
  • Viking The Cat - Elsa Lim
  • Castle - Woonkhien Chia
  • Pulau Ubin - Koh Teng Huat
  • Mother Mary - Shan
My personal favorite is Immaculada Concepcion by Evelyn Foo. While art is a very personal thing, I believe this piece really reflect the hope. It brings a feeling of bringing towards enlightenment from the darkness. I am not a Catholic (but I am a Christian), nor have been in Spain. It is about how a painting able to bring our the meaning within it. The colours really speaks for itself. Dark gloomy colours represent sins and at the moment Mary receive the conception, it was the golden light shines upon Her face and bring her out of the darkness. The Mary in the painting is like walking towards the light and out of the darkness. I kind off regretted that I took too much time to consider purchase this piece because by the time I made up my mind, this piece was sold.

Immaculada Concepcion by Evelyn Foo

Overall, the event was a success. The paintings were all selling at a very reasonable price. They are cheaper than those displayed in commercial galleries. Yet, they are in high quality. Not all paintings have a focused theme. Some really have collectible value. If you are hunting for great paintings, do keep your eye on Assisi Hospice's art events.

The Illuminati Thing?

I'm a big fan of animation films and of course, Despicable Me series are one of my favorite. I'm totally looking forward to the Minions which will be on Malaysian cinema starting from 18 June 2015.

Now here's the issue, since I am Christian and I believe in God, somebody told me that Minions are one of the creation of Illuminati to brain wash the children. One of the key influence is to make children unable to differentiate Good and Evil. Ok, so they talked about why the letter "G" on the denim overall and the Scarlet being the Whore of Babylon... etc etc...

It really makes me think for myself. Am I now living in a world where my moral values and conscience being influenced by main stream medias? I do believe that cartoons and animation able to influence a child. That's why I'm an engineer, which I believe it is deeply influenced by Doraemon. If that is the case, will our children be influenced that being evil is good? Illuminati or not, I would say that sometimes we worried too much. Lets just enjoy the movie...

Hysterical about the Anti-Hysteria Kit

Let's just get things straight. I do not believe in the existence of evil spirit. Furthermore, I'm educated in science, which means that I believe things can be explained through observation.

It reminds me of my secondary school Malay friend who once explain to me what really happened since she claimed that she had previously suffered minor hysteria. It was mostly happened in the female Muslim boarding school during the near exam period. She told me the major trigger could be due to stress.

I could never able to accept the fact that in this modern day, our state funded university are supporting such kind of research. A research on supernatural.

Misleading Product Name
Hysteria, by itself, is a world wide, regardless of who you are, a conversion disorder, There has been clinical research done. The "Anti-Hysteria Kit" is definitely a ridiculous name! Does it mean that a person who suffers in hysteria who are not a Muslim, this kit will not be effective?

It does not cure or prevent REAL hysteria! It should be named "Anti-Rasuk Kit"! Effective only on Muslims. Will there be other version for non-Muslims?

RM189,000 by the Education Ministry for the study of witchcraft
The result of the research? Here it is! Another witchcraft product! When I read the news on March 2015 about this grant, the purpose is to research and establish a law to combat witchcraft. I was so happy and thought that finally our government is doing something against the all so famous Raja Bomoh, 2 months after the news, "Anti-Hysteria Kit" came into reality and it completely shatters me!

WHY! WHY!! WHY!!!
I had lost all my hope...

To My Unknown Fans from United States of America?

I always wonder why there's always be 4 to 5 views from US just after I published a blog post. It could be some bot or whatever automated system it is. It triggers me for some sensational wild guesses that I must be under surveillance of the Big Bother.

Thing become exciting when suddenly, I get some pageview counts from Russia. Then I started to suspect about something. I think I am under surveillance! Now the page views from Russia had gone. Few weeks right after I get out of a small tiny investment in one Russian listed company.

I would like to thanks, whoever the person or thing is, which generates that 5 counts of page views from United States every time I published a new post. Without you, I will be totally trashing alone with a few view counts from some real close friends.

Whoever you are, I'm definitely not a terrorist or some kind of dangerous person. I make arts and painting, if you need something on your wall, please consider to buy some of my paintings. :D Cheers!

About The Pedophile Genius

Recently there were numerous debates on the pedophiliac genius Nur Fitri... and he previously studied in a school in Teluk Intan. What really sparks the public anger is the issue of MARA's public statement on continue support his intellectual education and the truanting kid news.

2nd Chance for the Ex-Convict
Where's my stand? He got his 5 years imprisonment for his crime. Yes, i understand that we should not discriminate those criminals who had served their punishment. The main issue is, he is not just a criminal! He clearly has a mental problem which is something that won't go away by merely 5 years in prison.

Mental illness is not something which can be healed by some magic wand. Take an example of the Germanwings co-pilot case. An ex-patient have high risk of continuous offence. Back to Nur Fitri, his mental health should be the priority, not the academic achievements.

Building Public Conscience
I'm not an expert in public policy making or involved in any political group. I am, for sure, one little part of the general public. And I do feel a bit misunderstood by MARA's decision to give Nur Fitri an opportunity to continue his education in their institution.

BUT...

As I've typed above, every ex-patient, or ex-convict deserves a second chance PROVIDED THAT, they will be closely monitored for thier mental state.

BUT...

If he is to be given second chance, the general public felt insecure. Especially when this person were to be put among students who could be less superior than him academically. Within a class room, where he could have perform extraordinary good, that creates a potential that he could become a role model of his peers. Which is something really dangerous that it give a wrong messege to the public.

The other mistake that MARA had made, is to disclose where Nur Fitri could be to continue his normal life after the punishment! Where he was known by his peer that he is an ex-convict, he will face all the social pressures within the community.

Besides, It is TOO EARLY to conclude or decide anything for his future while he haven't even serviced his punishment over a year. Such statement stirs public anger, and it harms Nur Fitri himself! If I am in the position of MARA, I will just terminate the support and then keep quiet! All those traunting kid statements will just irritate the public.

In such case, after serving the punishment, Nur Fitri should be given opportunity in an undisclosed institution, where he is an unknown person and with the environment where academic performance is confidential. At the same time, his mental state should be closely monitored. He has to work his own way up to pay back all his education and continue to serve charity for children indirectly. The best way, in my POV, is to deduct 10% of his salary or business income to such charity for all of his lifetime. He shall not involve himself in career related to children.

Hammer hammer... :P

Sometimes, I just have to get use to it! Haters!

Popularity is not my game. I'm not a pop star. I don't earn income from being popular. Not even want to become a popular person.

"Shut up and who the hell are you? You're just a noob who don't even able to buy a work more than ten thousand dollars."

Yes, who the hell am I? I am a noob. Of course I'm not here to please or piss anyone. I had face enough discouragement since the day I involved in art scene. I had gave up once, and embarrassed myself in the public before, but who cares? I am who I am and I want to do whatever I want to do in my life!

My Love for Björk

One of the music icon who is not so popular, would be Björk. I totally love her musics, her visual arts, her inventions, rhythm and lyrics. Most people don't understand it, and I have to admit one thing, I don't understand myself what I love about her works. Most importantly, I guest that she don't even care how majority people view about her works. She don't need crazy fans flooding the whole airport for her. In fact, she got enough headache for crazy fan committed suicide for her. It is not about making a chart topping record or best song in the century. It is about expressing one self in a form of a performance.

My Love for Jessie Chung

Some of my friends who saw me collected her books will said "Eww! Why you collect this kind of things?". My straight reply would be, "Yeah, I love her books, it is something like Chicken Soup of the Soul kind of short stories which could be closer to Malaysian life." I don't see any problem with that. I do know that Jessie Chung is a bit of an exhibitionist. I just love her books, and the articles are in high quality, easy to read, not so deep not so shallow, close to life, and most importantly, meaningful. She doesn't have much talent in singing and acting though. Another thing I like about her is her contribution through her business. Being successful through an honest business is not an easy task. Her NHF company is selling affordable and quality health products to the public. Some people told me that her organization is like MLM, brain-washing...etc. C'mon, I had joined the membership but never really got invited or pressured to attend any brain-washing session before. Not like those goddess-like figure who invite you to a super star concert, and pressure you to buy some juice which cost you thousands of dollar for a few sips.

Being a person who had push her own body to the extreme, she might not be able to live a normal long life. Thus, staying healthy and alive and do whatever she want to do in her probably short life, has nothing to do to pleasing anyone.

The Reality

The reality is, nobody in this world able to please everybody! I have to be honest here. Call me weird, call me distasteful, whatever it is, I hate Taylor Swift! Like all those people who hate Bjork or Jessie Chung, I have dozens and tons of reasons to say why I hate Taylor Swift, but to be honest, those reasons are just meaningless excuses. The only truth is, I don't know why I hate her? She is talented and make good musics, but I just feel annoyed whenever I heard her music playing on the radio or her news popping on my FB feeds. My statement here in this blog, might just trigger some crazy fans to send me a death threat. Who cares? I don't! I'm just a noob being who I am and enjoy being the true to myself person.

To the "Haters"

Back to the main topic, I'm so happy to have haters, because it proves that I am moving towards success! Only the influential people are able to please and piss others. I'm sorry if I offended your idol. Yes, I am a noob. In the art scene, I am just a nobody, but I don't care, because I am not here to please you. If you feel pissed, then please let it go into the toilet bowl for good!

Artists' Rules?

When I was young, my art teacher told me not to use rulers when drawing straight lines. She gave a lots of "rules" that a great artist must not do this and that. The brush stroke must not be repeated, use stick figures to establish the proportion... etc. Most importantly, I must not trace!

While my position is that, all those are bullshits! We learn to do better job by tracing! One thing in me which is similar to Leonardo da Vinci is that I am an engineer, at the same time, also am an artist. Over the period of time, people developed new techniques and methods to do something better! Even Leonardo himself learn from tracing, and he even recorded his method of tracing in his Codex Atlanticus!

In this modern day, hyper realism has been made possible with the photographic technology. Modern artists has moved towards other non-traditional mediums and technique to express their artistic ideas in modern contemporary form. Thus, I don't think the traditional rules still applies!

Back in the days when I was in primary school, a part time art teacher once put me in a difficult position because she suspected that I traced a Daisy Duck painting. She asked me to draw the same picture on the black board with calked. She probably do not understand that to draw in a piece of A5 paper is a lot easier to get the proportion right compare to drawing on a black board. Further more, I was short and I couldn't even reach some part of the black board. My life and experience in art has been a hard and discourage one since very young age. In the end I couldn't get the proportion aesthetically on the black board compare to the one I get on a small A5 piece of paper. Whereas the original print is actually an A4 size, which I use the small box dividing technique I learnt from an art studio in Karamunsing Building. She rejected my work in the end, punishing me for "tracing" an art work.

Art should be the wings of freedom! It should be a form of an expression. Other than speech, and texts. Why put such unnecessary rules on it to kill the human creativity!?
